Level of conformance with the requirements
We are committed to digital accessibility and aim to design our website so that it is fully accessible to all users. We therefore continuously work to fully implement the requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) and the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSGV).
Our website implements the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG):
- Text alternatives (WCAG 1.1.1): Meaningful images and graphics have alternative text, while purely decorative elements and icons are marked as
aria-hiddenand are therefore skipped by screen readers. - Semantic structure (WCAG 1.3.1): The pages use semantic HTML with a clear heading hierarchy as well as regions such as header, navigation, main content and footer. Form fields are explicitly associated with their labels.
- Colour contrast (WCAG 1.4.3): Text and controls are designed for sufficient contrast in both the light and dark themes.
- Responsive layout & zoom (WCAG 1.4.4 / 1.4.10): The layout adapts to different screen sizes and remains usable when text is enlarged or the page is zoomed, without loss of content.
- Keyboard operability (WCAG 2.1.1 / 2.1.2): All interactive elements can be reached and operated via keyboard. The mobile menu can be closed with the Escape key and keeps focus within the open dialog (no keyboard trap).
- Bypass blocks (WCAG 2.4.1): A “Skip to content” link makes it possible to bypass the navigation and jump directly to the main content.
- Visible focus (WCAG 2.4.7): Focused elements are highlighted with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Reduced motion (WCAG 2.3.3): Animations and transitions are reduced when users have enabled the “reduce motion” setting in their system.
- Language of page (WCAG 3.1.1): The language in use is declared correctly and switches automatically when the language toggle (German/English) is used.
- Understandable forms (WCAG 3.3.1 / 3.3.2): Input fields are labelled, errors are described understandably, associated with the respective field and announced to screen readers immediately via
role="alert". - Name, role, value (WCAG 4.1.2): Controls such as the menu, language and theme toggles expose their state to assistive technologies via ARIA attributes (e.g.
aria-expanded,aria-pressed).
